I'm always running in every direction with no direction at all. If you care or dare,
please join me on my own cwazy ride, The LUNAtic Roller Coaster of Life.

Here I will be posting my exposé of personal thoughts and pics. In the words
of my movie diva Bette Davis, "Fasten your seat belts, it's going to be a
bumpy night!"

It's been a busy month, I finally got out there to 'peddle my wares'. I have 9 new
classes scheduled in the upcoming months at Frenzy Stamper in Scottsdale, AZ
and then at Mystic Paper in Mesa, AZ. I have to say that these store owners have all
been so easy to work with, they've certainly helped ease my transition back into the
teaching world very smoothly. Thank you Debi, Jennifer, and Kim.

Other news is that Sandy McCall's book has been released, The Savvy Crafter's
Guide to Success
. I have 3 art contributions in this book, plus the top left corner of
the cover! Ha! I love Sandra's tips in this book on how to succeed in the art/craft
business, as well as a collection of insights on how to make it by many of its
well-known art contributors. The majority of photos are taken by her husband and
artist, Les Gaines. I was super impressed at how well he captured my assemblage,
Alter Ego. The detail he captured was beyond my expectations.

I am still reading this book and highly recommend this reading, it's got a lot of helpful
tips from defining your business direction, organizing, photographing, venues, and so
much more.

Okay here's the one and ONLY reason I selfishly wish this book was recalled. When
you read my biography, it is SO OUTDATED. Oye! It credits my 'art supportive
husband', NOT, he's GONE (I'm offically divorced now!)... and my dog count has
increased, it listed 3 dogs, I now have 5! Thank God for blogs to make the necessary
corrections! ;)

I also have two shows coming up, one is in Glendale, AZ. It's the  2008 Stamp and
Scrapbook Crop Fest
by Stampin D'Amour, on Sunday June 1, 2008 9am to 6pm.
I will be a vendor there, selling art work and a few bits of rif raf.

The other show will be held in Juneau, Alaska at the Fireweed 2008: The Great
Alaskan Art Retreat
from Oct 13th to Oct 19th. I will also be teaching 3 workshops
there...
• Then is Now: The Art of Altering Vintage Photos,
• Then Is Now EXTREME: The EXTREME Art of Altering Vintage Photos, and
• Earth Colors.
Please mark the date on your calendars and try to be there. I've always wanted
to travel to Alaska, how about it? Who wants to come???

The Gorey Exhibit is headed to Boston! More information to follow soon.....

Recently I had an artist/friend visitor stay over for a few days, Leighanna Light. We
had a fun time, despite me attempting to drag poor Leighanna to various social
events/parties. She was a really good sport, but me? I was probably a really bad host. ;)  Leighanna is a great teacher and has some awesome classes! Check her blog site out... The Thing Maker

Also in case you haven't checked it out yet, I know this post is super late... but I am
the "Artist of the Month" for the Artsmiths. It will be another artist's turn come
the beginning of June, but I can still be found under the Archives after that.

Well, looks like the nocturnal moon should be headed to bed soon.

Peace out.

Hey from Planet Silver Moon! Things have been moving along slowly but surely. I have been having a helluva time altering vintage photos. I marvel at the creepiness that ensues once my paint brushes become the eminent player of all mediums. When people ask me what I do, I tell them I create scary 'moonster' art. And then I hear... 'well it''s a good way to express what you've been through.'  okay, STOP! Although that could be true for a lot of people, I am usually the exception to the rule. Go figure!

My family and friends know that I've always had my alter-ego dark side since I was very young. I remember my first horror film being 'Carnival of Souls' in the 60's. The movie left me with such an impression that I actually found it on video several years ago and I treasure it. What impacted me was the filming in black and white, the make up on the actors/actresses, and the haunting theme. At a very young age (6 years old) I used to love to watch the summer time movie matiness on tv especially when the entire week's theme was spooky thrillers. Then in high school when all my friends were listening to soul and R&B music, I preferred listening to Alice Cooper. Again it was not only the macabre lyrics but his entire stage persona, with the guillotine and make up. Today I incorporate a bit of 'weirdness' into my house decor with masks, cemetery art, antiques, and gothic gates.

So, what I am trying to articulate here is that My Art is REALLY me!!! Just as many recording artists, film makers, poets, and artists, gravitate towards 'dark-mysterious art' doesn't mean we are truly dark in our relationships with the world. What it means to me is that I simply enjoy this means of expression not only in rough waters but when the sailing is smooth.

With that said, here is a tiny glimpse into some of my new pieces...

More news: I will be teaching at the Fireweed Art Retreat in Juneau, Alaska in October and will be vendoring at Art Unraveled in Phoenix, AZ in August. Please check my front page for new publishing releases in 2008.
